About
Catholic Brothers United was formed to bridge the gap between the old and the young in 1994 at St. Agnes Catholic Church, Maryland,Lagos with the approval of Rev. Fr. Kevin McGarry( SMA ) who was the Parish Priest at that time. It was initially called Catholic Youngmen Association( CYMA) but in 2013,the Archbishop of Lagos, Most Rev. Dr. Alfred Adewale Martins, changed the name to Catholic Brothers United(CBU) and mandated that it should spread to all Parishes in the Archdiocese.
The main objective of the association is to provide an enabling platform for all young and old in the church to exemplify the truth of the Gospel. To discourage partisanship and divisiveness and encourage teamwork and unity for the mutual and communal benefit of members and the Church.
The association membership is open to Catholic male both single and married who have attained the age of 25.An aspiring member is expected to be of a good conduct all the time, thus it is required that such an aspiring member should be recommended or sponsored by an old member of the association.
For the growth and prosperity of the association in carrying out its objectives, various committees were set up. Each new member is oblige to register with a little token and monthly dues are been paid by members so various goodwill and charities can be carried out all through the year
